“ARDON” comes from Latin “Adunum”, meaning “fore the castle.

The village has probably been built stepping the castle.

The Manor has been built around the years 1630 and has conserved his original aspect.

Head of the community, LA FERTE is the first charming town on National Road (RN) 20, coming from Paris. Being one of the biggest city of the county it only count 7200 inhabitants.

MARCILLY EN VILLETTE

Located 20 km south of Orleans, this typical charming village at the beginning of the Sologne, has 1900 inhabitants.

 A rich agricultural plateau lies to the north of the village while to the south a hunters’ and walkers’ area is mainly covered with woods, moors and ponds.

MENESTREAU EN VILLETTE

This charming, flowery town, set in the middle of woodland, has 1380 inhabitants. Its name is medieval, meaning monastery, where Villette designated a lordly fief which, in the 14th century included a forest spreading as far as Marcilly.

St Thibault’s Fountain, which sufferers from the Sologne fever used to visit in search of a cure, lies a few hundred meters from the town, close to the Vouzon road, housed in a little brick building, restored in 1890, reminiscent of one in Westminster Abbey in London.

1200 m from the town centre is a 17 ha leisure base at Villechaume (17 ha) : fishing in a 4 ha pond, camping, tavern (and its mini-golf). Ideal place for walkers, looking for calm and serenity.
